Iaido is the sword embodying a series of cutting and thrusting movements in drawing and returning the blade. Each movement requires mental discipline in order to perform it to perfection. Essentially to Iaido is discipline of meditation, discipline of sword movement and discipline of etiquette.

The Washi ryu school of Iaido developed from
the Yawara and is one of the traditional Japanese Iaido styles. This style is taught in only one place outside Japan and that is at The Australian Kendo Dojos. The Grand Master of Washio ryu is 8th Dan,
Tatsumi Sensei.
