Iaido
History
Iaido is the sword embodying a series of cutting and thrusting movements in drawing and returning the blade. Each movement requires mental discipline in order to perform it to perfection. Essentially to Iaido is discipline of meditation, discipline of sword movement and discipline of etiquette.
At AKD we train in two styles of Iaido, Khan Shin Ryu and Washi Ryu. The Washi Ryu school of Iaido developed from the Yawara and Khan Shin Ryu a more practical style of combat and Tamashigiri of traditional Japanese Iaido.
